![]() Ultimate Origins $19.99 "Ultimate Origins" (Marvel Comics, 2009) ------------------------------------- Overall, the once-vital Ultimate Marvel continuity may have sputtered to a mediocre halt, but there are still glimmers of life. This volume is pleasantly engaging, collecting a five-issue miniseries that explores the origins of the superpowered protagonists of the Ultimate 'verse, tying it all into the old Super Soldier program that brought us Captain America. It was a good, exciting read. As usual, I'm not a wild fan of Butch Guice's artwork, but he does the job, in a Gene Colan-esque way. The plot by Brian Michael Bendis is fine. Definitely worth checking out. (Joe Sixpack, ReadThatAgain book reviews) ![]() Ultimate Iron Man, Vol. 2 (v. 2) $19.99 The fist volume was weak and this book does not tie into the Ultimate Universe. Whats the point then? Not even a good book for the most die hard of Iron Man fans. ![]() Ultimate Power $29.99 I don't get the bad reviews at at all, I don't see this being less than a 3 star book, My suspicion is that people don't like Geof Loeb and personaly I don't as well, but this book is good, no doubt about it, it's very fast paced, extremely fun, art is museum quality. I read this a few times and I really in enjoyed it. forget the haters, give this one a shot. ![]() Ultimates 3, Vol. 1: Who Killed The Scarlet Witch? $24.99 I really wanted to enjoy this. Despite many negative reviews, I bought it - and it was terrible. It is one of those books that your wife looks over at you while you're reading with this questioning look on her face - then I realized I was exclaiming outloud - "this...is...awful". Please, learn from my mistake and look for something else to spend your money on. |
