There was a time when men of honor travelled the world in search of new and exciting adventures. Strength of character, intestinal fortitude and raw courage abound in this wonderful recount of actual events. It is hard to imagine in our "modern world" how difficult and dangerous the adventures retold in this amazing book must have been to actually achieve. This is not Hollywood or a video game. These events actually transpired as written by a man of unquestionable strength.

Although his writing style can be a bit dry at times the reader is transported to a world which no longer exists. I highly recommend this book to anyone with an interest in Africa, hunting, exploration, etc. There are few men of any generation whose accomplishments can be compared with those of Samuel White Baker.

For those who enjoy this book I highly recommend, Man-Eaters of India, by Jim Corbett. Another fine example of courage and honor under the most difficult of circumstances.

This book does a great job of capturing the author's knowledge and transmitting it to others. The writing is clear, the pictures are excellent. He even manages to convey some of his over-the-top enthusiasm for this sport and these fish.

I have the original CD on Novus, also digitally remastered, but I'm sure the new remaster is even better. This is one of the best pure guitar albums I have ever heard. Where else can you hear three acoustic guitarists playing as a trio with such skill as Coryell, Scofield and Joe Beck? This takes me back to my youth, when folks used to gather and play guitars during leisure time. And the titles here also take me back: Thurman Munson says it all; Zimbabwe; Equinox! Believe me, you want this disc in your collection.
