 The Happiest Toddler on the Block: How to Eliminate Tantrums and Raise a Patient, Respectful, and Cooperative One- to Four-Year-Old: Revised Edition $15.00 I was a big fan of Karp's Happiest Baby on the Block - it helped us survive the first three months of my daughter's life. At a year and a half old, we were looking for a method to help understand her temper tantrums, her fears, and ways to calm her down. Remembering how Happiest Baby on the Block saved my sanity, I picked up Happiest Toddler on the Block. As with all books about raising children, there is no one tried and true method that is a universal solution for handling temper tantrums and fears and testing of boundaries. The "toddlerese" that Karp recommends is a bit over the top, his recommendation to mirror their emotions really works for our daughter. All in all, this is a great read and wonderful for helping to understand why toddlers act the way they do and I would recommend it. After reading it, try the methods he describes and see what works for your child and what doesn't.  Toddler 411: Clear Answers & Smart Advice for Your Toddler, 2nd Edition $13.95 Great book to read if you are new to parenting. Discipline chapter could be a bit longer and more in depth. Other than that I am happy so far.  LeapFrog Fridge DJ Magnetic Learning Radio $21.99 My son was excited to see his new toy but that lasted for less than an hour. He didn't like it much as he heard the music and songs from many other toys. In my experience this is not for a 2 year old. |
