Jim Cort is a boy who loves playing high school football and the story opens with him and his mother meeting his father as he gets out of prison. His father had confessed to embezzlement and everyone in the family is anxious to get on with their lives. However, someone is determined to prevent that from happening. Jim receives phone calls where he is taunted about his father and a nasty drawing is left on his garage. This puts Jim in a state where he spends his time thinking about the messages and this causes his school and football performance to suffer.
Fortunately, not everyone feels that way and a female classmate called Margo offers to help Jim find out who is behind the harassment. After several false starts, all secrets are revealed and Jim can once again begin playing up to his potential. At the end, Jim demonstrates his innate decency, which wins him the girl.
This is a story about perseverance, honesty and the role of self-confidence in being successful. Once Jim loses his self-confidence, he can do little right, but once it is back, he shows a fire and talent that he didn't know he possessed.

I read this book the day before homecoming so i would be able to follow along at the game, and it was such a big help! Filled with not only the basic rules and guidelines, but also smaller interesting facts that helped shape football into the sport it is today. It was a great, quick read.

I Don't write many reviews, but after reading some of the prior reviews on this product, I was moved to comment. First, let me say that I LOVE the amazon customer reviews and they have been extremely helpful to me in the past. To those who routinely take the time to say what you honestly think-- THANK YOU, THANK YOU!

I'd like to pass on my experience on this item in the hopes that I can give back a little. My problem is a thick waist-- not up there with global warming, I know, but still frustrating. I eat right and exercise, but my waist refuses to cooperate even though my weight is pretty close to normal. Ok, I've picked up a few pounds over the years, but I had the waist issue at my (long ago) skinniest in my teens and twenties-- its a genetic thing. Here's where the highwaisted Spanx pantyhose come in. If you have a similiar body type, please don't be discouraged by some of the prior reviews. This product is the real deal, a godsend. I promise.

Some of the other reviewers said that the hose didn't stay put--I understand this issue all too well having experienced it with other products, but I have to emphasize that rolling has NOT been my experience with the highwaisted spanx pantyhose. In fact, the stay put factor is what makes these hose so terrific. It makes me wonder if maybe the other reviewers ordered the wrong size. AS someone who has tried a lot of products trying to create a more feminine waistline, I really encourage others who have similar concerns to give this product a fair try.

In my experience, the high waist stays exactly where I want it AND the hose are extremely comfortable--more so than conventional hose simply because there is NO rolling at the waist-- the top goes all the way to the bottom of my bra and STAYS there. I wear these hose to the office and even after 12 hours on, I feel no need to rip off my hose when I arrive back home--something I did frequently with other control hosiery. And most tummy control hose work on tummy but do nothing for the waistline--my biggest concern. Believe me I have tried many many products of all kinds. This product is a great alternative to corsets (which work but are unbearable after a few hours). This product also disguises lines and bulges under clingly clothing. If you try this item and still have a problem with the rolling waist band mentioned by other reviewers, may I suggest you try a slightly higher size? The compression still works and the smoothness factor under clothing and the illusion of a smaller waistline are clearly worth the effort.

So by now you get it--- I am REALLY happy with this product. I will continue to buy high waisted Spanx hose and tights. There is nothing out there (including other Spanx products)that works as well for my particular issues WITHOUT compromising comfort. One suggestion to Spanx-- add more colors in opaque tights. Like Navy...Please?

After I started wearing this product, so-o-o many people started complimenting me on my appearance and my "new outfits." {i didn't buy any new clothes but I did start wearing belts over my jackets and sweaters to emphasize my smaller middle.] Many also told me that I looked like I had lost weight or was working out more. They said I was in great shape. What they didn't realize is that the only thing I had changed was something they couldn't see and didn't suspect-- my spanx high waist pantyhose!
