 Thanksgiving Is for Giving Thanks $3.99 My 20-month-old daughter LOVES this book. The illustrations are very colorful, not too busy and feature lots of kids and animals. The concepts are easy for her to relate to (i.e. "my grandma gives the best hugs" and "I am thankful for bright sunny days when I can play with my friends"). Our favorite Thanksgiving book by far!  Some Day You'll Thank Me for This: The Official Southern Ladies' Guide to Being a "Perfect" Mother $21.99 I have bought every one of Gaydens books. I can not wait till the next one comes out. I came from the Delta where these books were written about. I can see myself at some of these events (in the late 60's early 70's)!! I buy these books for gifts. Stories are great: Recipes are so easy to follow and they are exactly what I cooked in my younger years! I have been cooking different ones for my husband now. I Love All of the books, but to me Being Dead is no Excuse seems to be the Best, but it is hard to tell. I Love them All. In Some Day You'll Thank----So Many of the sayings are exactly what my Mother and Aunt would say. Read All the books if you want many hous of entertainment and easy, great recipes! Thanks for Thanksgiving $6.99 This is such a satisfying, delightful children's book about Thanksgiving. It has a series of warm illustrations showing a family in their cozy house, while the seasons change and they celebrate their gratitude for each other and the things they love. It does a good job listing things children are grateful for, from school to art to food, and there is a page at the back of the book for children to continue the list of things they are thankful for. Studies have shown that people who express gratitude in their daily lives feel happier, and I think this book does such a nice job of encouraging children to find meaning in Thanksgiving and to find gratitude in general. Very lovely. My three year old likes to hear this story over and over, in part because of how beautiful the illustrations are: the kids look real and slightly messy, the food looks delicious, and the house looks wonderfully cozy, with a fireplace and sleeping pets. This is a great addition to your collection of kids books for fall and Thanksgiving! |
