![]() The Best of Techno, Vol. 1 $16.98 This CD came as a shock. I had never heard such a classic sound done in an original way like this CD. And so many artists that I had never heard before. I loved how the whole comp flowed very nicely into each other without awkward songs in between. I used to listen to tracks like these all the time back in the early days of raves and techno's blossoming arrival upon the masses. Tracks like GTO's "Bullfrog," Speedy J's track, and Nexus 21's track are amazing. They're not fulltime party-songs, they let you do your thing to them, and that's what the beauty of this CD is. If you want a great, groovy comp to impress some of your elitist techno buddies, add this to your cart. ![]() Pasilda (Atfc Remix) $0.00 Like many trance/electronica tracks, this one is slow to build. But what can you expect when the track's going to be over 6 minutes long? This is no bubble-gum pop song for radio. This track mixes electronica with a very nice latin edge. Impossible to sit still while listening once it gets into gear. Nice keyboard riff adds a hook. And worth the price! ![]() Perfect Playlist Techno, Vol. 1 $11.98 This is the kind of music that was huge in the mid 90's as Euro-techno took off: bright melodies without much build, pop vocalists, and simple beats backing the melodies like an afterthought. The european crowd might even get more into this compilation. After years of hearing that style, it faded, and all of the techno-dreams of techno-fans turned to new sounds, new types of beats, and less vocals. And definitely less remakes of OK songs like Salt-N-Pepa's "Push It." What's so sad about this compilation is the lack of the newer style techno that is available. They merely include Darude, who's hit "Sandstorm" was a hit like 5 years ago (and it gets a remake of sorts on this compilation as Omnibus tries hard to regurgitate "Sandstorm"), and it is the closest thing you'll get to original-sounding techno on this compilation with thier song "Music." If you're thing is throwing a bit of techno into workout mixes for your iPod in between top 40 pop radio hits and maybe a country song that "really made you think," this is your techno. Mall-variety and bland. |
