Find Your Strongest Life
by Marcus Buckingham

Over the last several weeks I have received a lot of grief for reading a book about leadership for women. It almost as if male leaders feel they have the corner on leadership. There is no need for us to learn from anyone other than male leaders. While many of them probably did not think this deeply about what they were saying to me. I believe this book was a great read!

Marcus Buckingham does a great job of introducing us to the struggles and issues that women face as leaders. Many of which are not a lot different than male leaders. In this book we learn what challenges women face as they look at their lives and try to succeed. Marcus lays out nine different "Life Roles' that define our character. They are as follows:

Advisor
Caretaker
Creator
Equalizer
Influencer
Pioneer
Weaver
Motivator
Teacher

These nine roles are the places we could find oursleves if we were not to look at our lives and find the strongest part of our joys. In the chapters that follow he begins to show us how we can understand where we fit and what roles we are playing. There is great instruction and methods for us to find our strongest life and bring fulfillment.

As a male leader I believe that you could relabel this book from the perspective of emotional leadership and the base of readership would increase. If you have a wife or women that you work for or that work for you, this book will help you be a better leader.

Personal Opinion: Great Read!

i am a passive reader of other people's comments. After reading tens of books on investing and hundreds of comments on those books, i can't lurk anymore and say some good things about this book. Overall, i am a believer of fundamental analysis (FA) and the author should be in the same camp too. There are quite a few books on value investing. yet, this book offers the most transparent explanation on value investing, especially the chapter on valuation of stocks. In my belief, the DCF, though quite old-fashioned, is still the starting point for any valuation analysis. the author was able to demonstrate the concept in a concise and convincing way. He offered not only the rationale, methodology but also two examples to demonstrate how to calculate the intrinsic value. In my opinion, his method is superior to other perhaps handy or quick methods promoted by other value investing books. After all, cash is the king!

I had read Maxwell's previous book, Thinking for a Change. This audio is based on that book, and will teach listeners the 11 most effective ways to think. A quick sample includes Big-Picture Thinking - seeing the world beyond your own needs and how that leads to great ideas; Focused Thinking - removing mental clutter and distractions to realize your full potential; Creative Thinking - thinking in unique ways and making breakthroughs; Shared Thinking - working with others to compound results; Reflective Thinking - looking at the past to gain a better understanding of the future.
