Not Bright Enough. "I had a 1 million for Years that was brighter.
I owned this one less than three months, smelled something electricial. After checking where the power source plugs into the spotlight, it was WAY TOO HOT. I was afraid to use again.
Thank you Amazon.com for working with me to purchase a different spotlight.
After taking such great care of this product, having to purchase another so soon is unreal!

Like several other reviewers, I had problems with the charging circuitry. The first time I charged (as directed), everything worked great. The light performed exactly as advertised. Battery life was short, also as expected-- perhaps 15-20 minutes worth of not-quite-continuous use at a campsite after dark helping numerous families assemble tents.

On the second charge, the indicator lights didn't behave the same as the first time-- it indicated it was still charging even up to the max recommended time. Green LED never lit during this time. I tested the light, and had approximately 5 minutes of life in it. I tried a couple more times over the next few months, and regardless of a 1 hour or a 10 hour charge, I could get only a dim light, and the two side spots stopped working altogether.

I assumed it was a faulty battery or charging circuitry, but having read a number of similar reviews, I suspect a more systemic design flaw or quality issue. Too bad, as B&D products have been pretty reliable for me over the years...

When I searched for a spot light on amazon, alot of people recommended the Kawasaki 10,000. Well, personal experience, dont listen to these review because its all lies. The Kawasaki 10,000 can not even compare with my old Dorcy 3000. I guess what you pay is what you get. However, if anyone looks for a bright and handy spot light, dont even think about the kawasaki 10,000.

I suggest you go for the Cyclops CYC-S35012VR Thor 12-Volt 3-1/2 Million Candle Power Spotlight. I used this Dorcy for about a week and ordered another light. I know the price is cheap, but it is cheaply made. You can do better. The cord is just short enough that it constantly pulls out of the outlet just enough to unplug it. Its actually bulkly to use in a car. There is something wrong with the wiring or the circuit board, because the light does not get bright, although the bulb that is used should allow it to. Add a few more dollars and get a better light
