This is clearly one of the most musical R&B vocalists to emerge over the last three decades or so, and this release is the first proof of this. Whatever slight dips in quality of writing occur are well spaced throughout the disc, which proves to be neither front-loaded nor anchored around one or two strong cuts surrounded by chaff, such that you hardly notice them amidst a generally potent setlist.

The best place to get this is artist-associated and far more humanely priced than the offerings of unaffiliated opportunists here and elsewhere. Fifteen bucks (plus shipping) spent at http://www.thegiantpeach.com/ledisi-soulsingertherevivalcd.aspx and mine showed up in the mail inside of a week from across the U.S. If this flies in the face of house rules around here, at least the artist might potentially benefit from my tragic lapse!
