Wow, not only is this one of my favorite albums still today, but I didn't even know one could buy it here. I was the mastering engineer on this CD, and I'm so happy that so many people enjoyed this. It really is such a shame that this was the only one they did because its amazing. The recording engineer and mixer was Steve Boyer. If anyone get a chance to hear his other work, please do. He's brilliant and brought such a transparant sound to this recording and mix.

Porn-star-to-be Aiden Shaw was twenty-one when he left his college studies, and took a job at a "gentlemen's club" as a masseur, which was really a front to turn tricks. Besides his work, his nights were filled with partying in London's drug-infused club scene, as well as moonlighting gigs as an independent callboy. Aiden's physical attributes made him a success in his endeavors in prostitution, and he convinced himself that he was happy in doing this for a living, although he dreamed of writing, and had already drafted a screenplay. His introspective thoughts throughout the book make you realize there was significantly more to this young man than a pretty face (or an impressive body appendage).

This is actually a prequel to his other memoir, "My Undoing: Love in the Thick of Sex, Drugs, Pornography, and Prostitution," which dealt primarily with his escapades in America as a porn star. "Sordid Truths" ends after Aiden's initial trip to America, and his meeting with porn direction/impresario Chi-Chi La Rue, who would be one of the guidance forces for him in that career. Provides a nice prospective as to what factors in his earlier life got him to that point, and likely to be of interest mostly to his fans. Overall, a fairly well-written and engaging memoir, though he has a tendency to occasionally go off onto tangents and dwell on his fantasies about certain men he met along the way. I would give it three escapist stars out of five.
