They're old enough (4, 6, and 7) that bed time stories are a great way to get them to settle down come bedtime. But, as I am not a parent my self, I do not have the enforced infinite patience for "Flopsy-Wopsy and her Bunny Friends Have a Picnic part 732" that is required for most childrens stories. I want something that the kids enjoy, that I know is child friendly, and is fun for me to read (even with monthly re-reads). Nurk wins. The kids ask for it by name, it's fun and quirky, it's exciting, and everyone gets home for a cup of tea. And I don't feel like throwing it in a fire after the tenth time through, which is unheard of for me with childrens books. Thumbs way up. |
