![]() FIFA Manager 09 (PC) $39.90 Great game, great design and the only management game with a good game engine this is a must buy for football fans! ![]() The Football Manager: A History (Sport in the Global Society) $135.00 Football managers are at the center of today's commercially-driven football world, scrutinized, celebrated and under pressure as never before. This book is the first in-depth history of the role of the manager in British football, tracing a path from Victorian-era amateurism to the highly paid motivational specialists and media personalities of the twenty-first century. Using original source materials, the book traces the changing character and function of the football manager, covering: DT the origins of football management - club secretaries and early pioneers DT the impact of post-war social change - the advent of the football business DT television and the new commercialism DT contemporary football - specialization and the influence of foreign managers and management practices DT the future of football management The Football Manager examines the influence of Britain's traditionally pragmatic and hierarchical business management culture on British football, and in doing so provides a new and broader perspective on a unique management role and a unique way of life. For those interested in the history of football and for those interested in management more generally, this book is a valuable new resource. ![]() World Wide Soccer Manager 2009 $29.99 Overall, this game is awesome. It's quite detailed in terms of playability and decision-making, allowing you a hands on approach to almost every conceivable management decision including minimal day to day team adjustments, with realistic transfer scenarios (i.e. if you coach for Real Madrid you cannot sign Aguero no matter what you offer) and even manager interactions I am now great friends with Wenger and Benitez. Make sure to get the latest patch and it will run smoothly, with minimal to no issues (I use a mac). It also has a very detailed player database, you'd be hard pressed to want to sign a player that isn't in the game. However, if aesthetics are really important to you, this might not be your game. Compared to FIFA it severely lacks sponsorship (sorry Premier League fans), player photographs, stadium details and does not have some of the other eye catching visual details which FIFA has become so good at providing. That being said the game engine is good and in terms of playability and detailed decision-making this is as good as it gets. Be careful though you will become addicted. ![]() Worldwide Soccer Manager 2007 $14.99 This game is the one game if you love playing, watching, evaluating soccer. The game keeps renewing itself. 10 years later from you opened first the game, your star players won't be in the game. That is the most important future for the game. I have been playing this management game since 1998 and there is no competitor against it. Must be bought and played. |
