![]() Baby Trend Double Sit N Stand Stroller, Skylar $179.99 This item came really quickly. I really like the stroller it fits my family well the only thing I dislike is that I have a graco safe seat carseat and it only fits in the front part of the stroller. ![]() SIT S1046 Power Nickel Electric Guitar Strings $7.95 I bought two sets of SIT (Stay In Tune) electric guitar strings for a Douglas Shadow guitar. One plus for this brand is it is readily available at a cheap price. The second positive is that each set included an extra Hi E and B string. The strings have held up great as far as durability. As far as staying in tune, they don't get out of tune very much. The heavier strings- E, A ,and D strings have a tinnier sound than I like. Overall, these are strings are decent for a bargain string. Are they the best? I wouldn't go that far! ![]() Sits in with the Oscar Peterson Trio $11.98 As more of a Stitt than Peterson fan (but admirer of both) - - I couldn't help but wonder what would happen when both these men, both notorious for their somewhat high regard of themselves and complete pyrotechnical mastery of their instrument got together. Now frankly speaking... I'll be honest... to me, Stitt is more of a match for a Hampton Hawes/Max Roach type rhythm section - - but could obviously play anything... Likewise... the matching of an agressive horn player like Stitt and Peterson on the surface *is* a bit interesting to say the least. (The word "virtuosic class" comes to mind when I think of Peterson... I associate Stitt, also a virtuoso with untamed fire... and both as occasional loners... that's to say, men who were front men's front men.) So, how'd it work? Well... Oscar Peterson + Trio are just what you'd expect... confident, tasty, swinging, in the pocket and all that... Stitt - - on the job... If you're used to some of his other recordings, you get the impression that he understood he was just sitting in - - (ergo the title of the album) - - That's not to say his playing is not upfront and commanding... but there's no "teaching Oscar a thing or too" - - Furthermore, even on a bop tune like AU PRIVAVE, the Oscar Peterson Trio keep their sound... They swing hard, but you don't hear a lot of "titty booming" or stuff that is anything but sweet, sticky and straight in the pocket... As a result, Stitt often finds himself doing almost piano like runs and licks, while Oscar Peterson - - well, rips like Oscar Peterson... Mostly interestingly though I should point out that if you weren't so familiar with Stitt you wouldn't know this, because even playing restrained, he can still run circles around anyone... however, he was professional and experienced enough to know to defer to his rhythm section. As for the high point of the album... Peterson has the solo accolades, but Stitt steals the show with his haunting melody and solo on THE GYPSY. Warmed up by the fourth track, the band even kicks out a groovily swinging version of I'LL REMEMBER APRIL, a tune who's changes are always a great vehicle from the bass player to show off his or her ability to drive a tune... (not that Ray Brown ever had to prove it... still...) All in all, for Sonny Stitt fans, not necessarily a must have... but for fans of sweet, tasty, cookin' piano trio (+ sax) Jazz... definitely a timeless classic. - - After THE GYPSY, my next favorite track, incidentally is BLUES FOR LESTER... You can never go wrong with a good blues... ![]() Everlast Folding Sit-Up Bar $18.99 This did exactly what I needed it to do...I needed my legs held as I did sit-ups and it does exactly that. It equates to having a buddy sit on your feet. The only thing is that your feet have to be on an up angle to get the right leverage but not an issue. Holds on to the door perfectly and folds up great so not to be in the way. |
