One of the examples were, if your child is running in the house and accidentally has broken an expensive vase, instead of yelling you should say, "I'm sorry you chose to run, now practice walking in the house and then we can clean up this mess together...."....I'M SORRY???? YOU apologize to the CHILD for breaking THE VASE?! Real life doesn't work like this, apologizing to a person for a mistake THEY have made sends mixed messages..also 'TOY TIMEOUT' when two children are fighting over a toy, the parent should remove the toy and say that the toy is 'causing a problem'...so anytime a child doesn't feel like sharing a toy, they have a hissy fit and the mom should remove it from the children. Many times when a child is fighting over a toy, it isn't because they, themselves want the toy, it is because they simply don't want the OTHER child to HAVE IT. This reinforces selfishness and temper tantrum throwing to get ones own way. I know a few people who actually parent very close to the way this book suggests and their children's behavior is horrible. Skip this book it was of no help to me at all, it was if anything, laughable.  The Replacements: All Over But the Shouting: An Oral History $14.99 I don't recommend this for someone who isn't a fan.......but if you're reading the review, you probably are. This book is mainly accounts of the rise and fall of one of my favorite bands by people who were close to them. Producers, girlfriends, relatives, other bands & even occasionally a replacement will weigh in. The Bob stuff is sad, Paul's kind of a dick sometimes, but the whole messy bag is why I loved the Replacements |
