Shooter (Widescreen Edition)

$19.99
Shooter is a solid movie about a former U.S. Miltary Sniper, Bob Lee Swagger, who is abandoned by the army and left for dead in Africa.

He returns home and makes a living in a secluded part of the country with almost zero contact to the outside world. He's tabbed by Danny Glover, a former purple heart winner himself, to plot an assassination attempt against the President in order to prevent the assassination.

Swagger scouts the locations where the President is going to speak and finally figures out that the only possible place is in Philadelphia. He is with Glover's outfit at the time to prevent the assassination only to unknowingly become part of the plot.

Swagger gets away and slowly starts exposing the truth behind the attempted murder, but not of the President, but of an Ethopian priest who was speaking before the president.

On his way, Swagger runs into Michael Pena, who plays FBI Agent Nick Memphis. Memphis is fresh out of graduation from the Academy and is suddenly thrown into presidental detail? all be it, from a very long distance away.

Shooter is a back and forth action movie with a deep story that you have to pay attention to. My only problem with the film was the acting of Michael Pena, at the very beginning it's very corny and fake.

-He's fresh out of the Academy and all of a sudden on Presidential detail?
-He's pretty much figured out within a day that Swagger didn't shoot anybody
-He's found out who or what shot the Priest

the other thing i didn't like, and this more than anything, was the fact that the "shooter" of the priest is exposed way to early in the film.

The viewer should have been left to ponder who or what did the shooting rather than giving it away so soon in the film.

but overall, Shooter is a good Saturday Night film, well worth watching.
