![]() Call of Duty Deluxe Edition $29.99 Call of Duty is a pretty good WWII shooter. Personally, I prefer it to Medal of Honor. The graphics are good, the battles are reasonably historically accurate for a game, and the game is pretty fun overall. The main problem I have with the game is the linear pattern. The game makes it clear what way you can take to do something, even if it makes more sense to go another way. For example, if there is a trench, you can only get out of it at one point, where chances are you will definitely get shot. Or there are two paths. One is the way the game says but the other has an impervious block (door, rubble, etc). If you are in an open field, there are mine fields to keep you on the path they want you to take. A minor problem, overall, but it can get a little annoying at times. United Offensive is basically the same game as the first one with a few extra missions for each Allied army. Some are really hard and others are really simple and easy. The game improves on the weapons and lets you actually carry and deploy the mounted machine guns (MG42s, Brownings, etc). Game still has the linear map problem, but like I said, its minor. One thing I will say is make sure you don't use this game on a labtop. When I first got it, that is what I had and it wouldn't install right. Activision told me it wasn't compatible with labtops. Also, if you run a dual core computer, make sure you get a dual core optimizer or else the game has a high tendency to crash. I could get about halfway through and the game would not let me pass the final British mission. The driver of the getaway boat would just stand there, no matter what I did. After getting the optimizer, no problems ever again. Great WWII shooter overall. Very happy with it. ![]() SOCOM U.S. Navy Seals: Combined Assault $19.99 Ok, so I'm Navy (not a SEAL), but I like the way I can move fireteams, set traps and really enjoy the heck out of killing tangos. Lots of the FPS games out there are totally mindless, but this one is has real feeling missions, without the peril of getting dead. If you follow the tacmap, there is lots of fun to be had at each level. Along with SOCOM III it is one of the few keeper FPS games I have. A smart squad leader gets it done quick and quiet. Sure we shoot, blow stuff up and have a good time. but at the same time we sneek and peek, shoot and loot when called for and really get a chance to use our heads. Deploy the members of the squad to cover and set traps and have some fun, after all, nobody really gets dead. YOu can really go on the offense if you are smart. Bad guys get dead and your men get extracted. This is one of the few FPS games that really does is for me. ![]() Star Wars Battlefront $9.99 Experience the chaos of battle as you fight thegreatest wars in the Star Wars universe. I am not normally the type of person who really enjoys games of any type. (Althought I am a member of the recent guitar hero craze.) But I bought this game after spending almost three hours on my younger cousin's psp. This game is the reason why I bought the psp. I reached the third level just today. Great game if you like to stratagize in a shooter game. I am looking forward to adding more games to my collection. This is a great game and I really want them to add a third game. Love it. |
