 Lessons on Shading $5.95 I hate to leave negative reviews, but this little book is just about useless to me. I don't know about anyone else-but as an artist; I don't have time to flip through pages of text trying to find the illustration that goes with it when I am trying to study. Nor do I have time to read over pages of defunct source list and art supplies that no longer exist. I know that this thing was first printed in 1900-my question is whats with the re-print? There is better instruction to be found-I'd send it back to Amazon- but the books not worth the postage it would take to do so! Sorry to disagree with the other peoples reviews-but Lessons on Shading is one of the least useful art instruction books I have forked over money for in a long time.  OpenGL Shading Language (3rd Edition) $59.99 By and large, the reviews here have found this book to be a great resource, to have helpful examples, and perhaps is THE book to have for all things GLSL. After about chapter 3, it stops living up to the hype. Up to that point, it does what it needs to do: it gives a decent coverage of the various parts of the language. It then provides one example that actually works. It is after that that you begin to see that there is a great deal of synergy required between GLSL applications and OpenGL itself. The examples provide (mostly) working shaders without even a hint of the OpenGL code required to interface with them properly, or even what some of the required parts of the shaders are (largely textures described by name only). Also conspicuously absent from this tome is any CD of examples, a common feature of computer texts. In short, if you don't already know what you're doing for anything remotely complex, this book isn't going to tell you. Save your money.  Outlining & Shading $18.95 DONT BUY THIS!! this guy has no clue what he's doing!!! the quality is AWFUL, the sounds is AWFUL, the drawing is absolutely AWFUL and he has no clue what hes doing. shading??? im sorry but that is not called shading, its like a 5 year old coloring in something on paper, messy and with no technic what so ever. also he calls the tattoo machine tattoo gun!!! (that was the first warning sign) he also calls the needle, gun!!! uh... ok!!! i cant believe i bought this. what a disaster! ive seen way better videos on youtube!!!!!! |
