FOLLOWING RON'S GUIDE WILL ENHANCE YOU AND YOUR SALES TEAM'S RESULTS ![]() The Laugh-Out-Loud Cats Sell Out $12.95 The only reason I own this book because I got it in the Neatorama grab bag sale. Had I actually been given a choice, there is no way I would have willingly bought this. Nearly every single gag in the book is a movie quote, a internet reference, or a video game reference, the key word being reference. They're not even all jokes, they're just bad one liners from other things. I guess the fact that they're misspelled and out of cannon makes them instantly hilarious. Flipping through this book, I honestly can't find any jokes that aren't from something else. Take one of the quotes from the back cover of the book: "Koford [the author] takes phrases and jokes that have worn out their welcome and turns them into classic Americana" (The Onion A.V Club) After all, if having a hobo cat say it doesn't make it Americana, what does? So, if you want a book of "phrases and jokes that have worn out their welcome" then this is the book for you. ![]() Go Out and Sell Something!: The Recession-Proof Guide to a Successful Sales Career (Volume 1) $12.99 The first thing I noticed and appreciated is that the author gets right to it! How appropriate for this titled publication. We are not subjected to a lengthy chapter masquerading as a "foreword" before getting to the purpose of this book. I found it both absorbing and inspirational as the author intersperses wise and practical counsel throughout. For example, persuasion techniques numbers three and four on page 97 are simple yet highly effective in all areas of life. The "action plan" summary at the end of each chapter proves helpful for a quick review, as will my notes written in the wide margins provided. In summary, you sense the author is genuinely appreciative of all he has learned from authors past and present. Consequently, he does not try to pass these lessons off as "new and improved" but directs you to the writings and sources he's found beneficial to his journey. In my opinion, this honest and humble quality makes me more confident and anxious to apply all the techniques and suggestions outlined. |
