![]() The Russia House $2.99 Connery and Pheiffer and Le Carre; what a movie menage! Shot in Moscow and Great Britian, this is one of the most realistic yet fast-paced spy adventures ever made. A classic.Reminiscent of the wuality of Marathon Man Marathon Man. Another comarison for quality/reality, Spy Game Spy Game (Widescreen Edition) (Just noted it's selling for one cent in Amazon marketplace!) Lecarre was involved in the production, which seems to give/keep the great novel's edge. I'd had this film on laser, just updated to DVD, so it's even better being sharper. Gotta run to catch m'plane to Minsk. ![]() Why We Fight $9.99 Insightful movie as to how and why we enter all these unnecessary wars. If you're not a fan of history already, compelling evidence that the more you know the more skeptical you will be. The U.S. is seldom the altruistic protector of civil liberties we portray ourselves to be; more often war is financially and politically motived, complete with propoganda financed by the military-industrial complex, and financed by us shills....er...I mean loyal citizens. ![]() No One Can Hear You $2.99 Kelly McGillis who was so radiant in "Witness" and "Top Gun" looks out of place in this well-crafted but ultimately frustrating movie. What starts out as a fairly interesting, and rather puzzling who is doing it, culminates in an ending that is so out of kilter you wonder why the director allowed the screenwriter to force this ridiculous ending on an unsuspecting audience. Just when you think the killer has been identified (and the killer admits he's the killer), a coda at the end suggests otherwise, WITHOUT any resolution. Like leaving it open for a sequel? Hardly, in this 2001 New Zealand film. Overall, even though it holds your interest until the end, it's a cheap thrills movie. |
