This is not a fluffy romance novel but definately full of emotion and passion. Very interesting in that it also is educational given that not many people are know very much about Chinese history. The customs of the early Chinese were barbaric by today's standards but the book explains them in a human tale of three wives who love the same man. It also shows that women have always had the need to express themselves to the world even when that world didn't seem to want to listen. Loved every page!
