![]() The Art of Seduction $20.00 This is an interesting book. However it's one of those books one has to be careful with, in the wrong hands this is almost a psychological manual for seduction, in the right ones its effective to understand human psychology. According to Greene, most human beings are essentialy capable of influencing others if they know how. The book is built on the fact that people are indeed bad, manipulative and decietful. However, if read with an open mind simply to see how this sort of psychology works, it is a splendid read. Hard to put down. This book actually went deeper then I initially thought it would but it underlines every manipulative element that is available to people today if they want to exercise it. ![]() The Seduction $14.98 Typical stalker fair, but with Morgan Fairchild sans clothes in the pool and bathtub it becomes a must see. ![]() Concise Art of Seduction $14.45 This book certainly gives a few powerful insights on social manipulation, though there are many other more authoritative works in sociology and social psychology that probe such issues much more deeply. This is not a book for those who want to understand what happens around them -- though it may give you a few illuminations -- but a handbook for those who want to profit from them. Indeed, it suggests unethical practices. But even just from reading other reviews it is quite clear that most readers do indeed consider ethics as a burden and they would rather get rid of it. ![]() Seduction $12.95 This has been a good year for me in the sense that I seem to find the perfect book to fit my ever changing mood. It has been a few years since I've read Ms. Holliday's work and I hate that I took such a long sabbatical. I had almost forgotten how sexually charged and drama filled her work is. From Jump Street I could tell that Mildred and Tony were going to get on my nerves, and they didn't disappoint. If the word "pathetic" is ever personified, it would manifest itself into the form of Mildred. Tony was just plain cocky and stupid, the type of person that was born for the sole purpose of being hated. I COULD NOT stand these two but, together, they helped create one heck of an engrossing read. Geneva also knows how to write the sex scenes for real. They fit in nicely with all the serious drama in these pages. Mildred is a lost soul who is about as cute as a constipated bulldog. Extremely insecure, she surrounds herself with people who care nothing about her, including her best friend. Mildred is old school and not in a good way. She can't GET or KEEP a man and she lies to people about her life so she doesn't look so bad. Sounds like a pretty regular depressing life right? Not in the hands of Geneva! Poor Mildred is such a tortured stupid soul with a life that is a walking twenty car pile-up. You know you shouldn't look (or read in this case) but you can't help yourself because she is so incredibly miserable! The only hiccup came around the middle of the book. Once Mildred takes a trip to a certain place the action seems to come to a halt. I worked my way through it because I WAS enjoying the book, but it did slow down the story enough to make a difference. Almost a little bit too much. After the "island speed-bump", things did pick up again but to be honest, a bit of the steam was already gone. Near the end I was starting to root for Mildred but then she goes "Mildred" on me and I had to stop myself from throwing this book through the window. Tony is a true piece of work and he deserves everything that comes his way. I was hoping his retribution would have been a bit more exacting, but that's just me. I did enjoy this book and if it hadn't been for that little bump in the middle, this would have been a 5-star read. Despite that, I will not be waiting a few years again to read this talented author's work. |
