I ordered a liver test kit and according to this company it was delivered shortly after my order was placed. However, I never saw that delivery and finally wrote a scathing review about this companies customer service. After this review they sent an email stating that they would refund my money and send me a kit free of charge. I see that the money was returned to my account. I have not seen the test kit yet. I must say that at the very least I am pleased to have the money returned. It was only a small amount but that at least demonstrates their honesty. If I indeed do receive the kit I will post on line the date I received it.

I purchased this tester to scan domestic model cars such as GM, Ford and Chrysler. When I read the description of this tester it stated "Compatible with all domestic vehicles 1996 and newer", however the very first car I tried to use it on was a 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix and I was not able to read any information from the vehicle since it was not one of the choices available in the tools menu. The tool came with a vehicle coverage guide, so I looked through the guide and found that it listed the Grand Prix but only for the 2004-2005 model and not the 2001 which was the year I was working on. I believe the tool description should state that it compatible with "some" domestic vehicles 1996 and newer, not "all".

My family physician suggested that I go and have Calcium Score CT Scan. I do have a history of hypertension and a cholesterol problem. So I did and much to my surprise my Calcium Score put me at a medium risk for coronary artery disease. I was completely taken by surprise. Let me point out that I seldom eat meat and eat dairy and eggs sparingly. Furthermore, I have had an excercise program for many years. As this book points out it does not matter that you eat healthy and excercise, you could still be at risk for a heart attack. The author covers quite a lot of information which includes: what is currently known about coronary artery disease, as well as a step by step guide to preventive care so that one does not end up being a casualty. I like the philosophy that the patient needs to take responsibility for his/her health. I couldn't agree more. As I told my cardiologist, 'I appreciate and value your knowledge and experience, and know this, I take responsibility for my health'. I believe that change comes in three steps: awareness, acceptance, and then action. After the CT scan I became quite AWARE which brought up feelings of fear, despair, etc. It took a few days to get to the acceptance phase, much discussion with friends and spouse, and reading this book as well as other sources. By the time I finished reading this book, I was in the action phase. My attitude is good and the fear has been replaced with hope. Personally, I think that if the price of this book was twice or 3 times what it is, it would still be a worthwhile purchase.

Not a bad scanner, certainly not for the price. BUT -- using the driving metaphor -- here's how to judge whether you should buy the Mustek or not:

1. If you just want to drive the car and you want it automatic and you miss the days when somebody else pumped the gas for you -- this is not the scanner for you.

2. If you like a manual, and you don't mind getting under the hood once in a while, you'll have no trouble and be very happy.

If you don't know what a TWAIN driver is, go away now and find your local Kinko's and hand them your art.
