Merino Kids Baby Sleep Bag, 0-2 years, Winter-weight, Wild Poppy
Merino Kids Baby Sleep Bag, 0-2 years, Winter-weight, Wild Poppy

$119.00
We were given one of these Wild Poppy Merino Kids sleep sacks when we had our first child three years ago. He used it throughout his first two winters, and it was so good that we bought a standard merino sleep sack for the summer months and when he got taller around the age of 2 we moved him up to the toddler sleep sack (Merino Kids Toddler Sleep Bag, French Navy). The toddler sleep sack is just as good but bigger, and will last him another couple of years. He's in it every night, wouldn't be without it, especially when we travel. He sleeps in it in the car seat on road trips, and he wears it on aircraft when we fly.

The reason this Wild Poppy sleep sack is called 'winter-weight' is that it has an extra layer of insulation compared to the other Merino Kids baby sleep sacks. This keeps your baby warm if their bedroom gets cool. The guideline they give is below 65 degrees (18C). I think 68-72 degrees is what's recommended as the ideal temperature for a baby's bedroom, so if yours dips below that in cold weather, or if you have cold aircon, then this winter sleep sack is for you.

We still have our original Wild Poppy baby sleep sack, our daughter sleeps in it now during winter months, and we bought her a lovely Rose Hip (Merino Kids Baby Sleep Bag, Rose Hip) for the other seasons. Even after two years of hard use by our little boy, and now two winters with our little girl, the original Wild Poppy winter sleep sack is still going strong, and it will last as a hand me down to some of their cousins.

It's testament to the superb quality of these Merino Kids sleep sacks that they last so well, especially considering that a child spends probably more time asleep in a sleep sack than in any other item of clothing.

I originally bought this to hold my clothes during backpacking, however, I ended up using for my Eureka Solo Backcountry 1 Tent which fit perfectly if you store the poles somewhere else on your bag. I kept my poles on the sides outside of the bag to preserve space. #3 came in red.

Oliver Sacks is my new favorite author. His writing style is like a conversation with an old friend. A recent PBS program included his case histories of a few very interestingly musical people. This book continues from there, with personal experiences tied together with analysis of brain function and processing.

We purchased this after our 6 month old outgrew the various small sleepsacks we had been given and we were having difficulty finding larger products. This really would fit a tiny baby, because there are snaps at the armholes that snug the top part right to the child, and then as the child grows, and the armholes need to be bigger, you can leave the arm snaps undone. I'm not sure this would really fit a two year old, but it will certainly fit our daughter for a long time to come (doubt there are any larger sleep sacks, anyway). The price is high, but given the range of sizes it accommodates, it is not as expensive as it first seems. Also, it is machine washable and can go in the dryer. Natural wool is also a selling feature.
