![]() The Encyclopedia Of Restaurant Training: A Complete Ready-to-Use Training Program for All Positions in the Food Service Industry $79.95 Extremely useful set of forms and ideas for use in the restaurant industry. It is skewed towards full service restaurants; but still has lots of useful stuff to apply to QSR. Do not expect to find a treatise on training, though. The CD ROM helps to take advantage of the material because it has the full text on pdf format and several of the sections in MS-Word format. ![]() Restaurant $14.99 It was not horrible, but this movie was really cheesy and had no substantial plot. I was rather disappointed. It was worth seeing but only if you get it for a very low price or catch it on t.v. ![]() The Restaurant Dream? $21.95 I am not much of a reader but I can honestly say that this book was incredibly difficult to put down. If you're like me, and you've had a life-long dream of opening a restaurant...take a look. We've all heard that the restaurant biz is "a lot of work" and "not as glamorous as you think." But we're different, right? Our concept is too good to be unsuccessful, right? Not so fast! At least not without a good understanding of what it really takes. Sure, a good concept, good food, and good location are crucial. But what about the not-so-glamorous details, like dealing with contractors and landlords, kitchen layout, food inspection, etc..? The list goes on and on and what Mr. Simon brilliantly does is give you a very honest and detailed description of the trials and tribulations of such a venture. He takes you through his emotions and tasks from concept through development of a restaurant venture he and his team took on and does it in a way that is easy for anyone to comprehend. Mr. Simon doesn't encourage you nor does he discourage you from your dream. He merely educates you on what is essential to know before beginning the pursuit. This is certainly a MUST-READ for any entrepreneur or aspiring restaurateur. ![]() Restaurants That Work: Case Studies of the Best in the Industry $55.00 This book has a lot of great information in it. Alot of the information is timeless. However, this book is from 1992 and all the restaurant case studies are from then as well. As I read the book and they discuss restaurants like Mesa Grill and they speak of it as being new, when I know it has been around for 15 or so years, it just seems off. Also the stats such as average checks and other sales data is kind of dated. You could definitley learn from the case studies but it would be nice if they would update the book. |
