To my surprise, the reception actually got WORSE when this thing was clipped to the whip antenna than without it. I tried moving it around in every conceivable position and shape I could think of and it never improved the signal strength or the audio quality at all. As I said, it actually made both worse! At least for my application, I would suggest you save your money. I am sure a $2.00 dipole would have done the same thing, since all this thing is is a dipole made out of RG56 cable!
