The Recumbent Bicycle
The Recumbent Bicycle

$21.95
I recently purchased a recumbent bike, and was interested in learning more about them. There are not many books about recumbents, but this book was just what I was looking for. It gives the history of the bikes, some of the design issues, and a review of the industry. Many people trying to set bicycle speed records are using recumbents, and the book covers a lot of these topics in depth. Worthwhile reading.
Stamina 15-0200 InTone Folding Recumbent Bike
Stamina 15-0200 InTone Folding Recumbent Bike

$230.00
Bought this through Sears. Had to wait two months for it to be in stock.
Loved the bike until the pedals started falling off just after the 90-day mark. They eventually stripped and made it unusable. Got replacement crank and pedals, but it is so complicated to take apart, I doubt it can be done. Would not recommend this product to anyone. I needed it for knee rehab and did not have a lot of money for an expensive bike. When it was working properly, I loved it and I even lost weight with daily use.
Schwinn 230 Recumbent Exercise Bike
Schwinn 230 Recumbent Exercise Bike

$599.00
Schwinn 230 is a good buy. I have used mine nearly every day since it arrived. The bike has a lot of features and is very quiet. It seems to be a well made product and it has performed very well thus far. The price was very competitive and it was shipped quickly and arrived in very good condition. Assembly was very easy.
The Recumbent and the Upright: A Bicycle Adventure by Two Retired and Unfit Cycle Enthusiasts, That Grew into a Ride Across the Continent
The Recumbent and the Upright: A Bicycle Adventure by Two Retired and Unfit Cycle Enthusiasts, That Grew into a Ride Across the Continent

$24.95
This story has two of the most unlikely characters you could ever think of in the same breath with the words bicycle adventure. The Van Fleets had really no experience at all as cyclists, when they hatched a quixotic scheme to cross the continent of America by bicycle. To make matters worse they were retirement bound and had collectively picked up the troublesome add-ons of injured backs and knees, high blood pressure and gout, and were overweight and under-exercised to boot! But sequences got the better of them: they discovered recumbent bikes (allowing Sheryl to ride), stumbled upon riding Bike New York (which hooked them on cycling), and then somehow managed to ride across the state of Oregon (which conned them into thinking they might survive trying to cross the entire country).

They never once were convinced they would complete the journey, which adds to the Everyman¡Çs Adventure quality of this tale The Recumbent and the Upright.
