 The Good Men Project: Real Stories from the Front Lines of Modern Manhood $14.99 My husband and I decided to read this book together, one chapter at a time, and after each chapter, we've been spending time talking. We're only through the first 5 essays but we've had 5 of the some of best conversations we've ever had. Men are sometimes so terrifying in their difference. The book's authors share stories and perspectives that are touching, gripping, and evocative - we're sharing their stories, our stories, and our understanding of what it means to be good. This has been a great experience for us.  The Real Story: The Gap into Conflict $7.99 A plot full of coincidences and contradictions, shaped around a trivial literary trick. Stupid characters whose actions and motivations bear no relationship to those of actual human beings. A few sci-fi buzzwords, but no science. And, last but not least, in the Afterword, an incredibly pretentious but shallow explication of Wagner's "Ring." Bah!  Saint Nicholas: The Real Story of the Christmas Legend $7.49 I shared this book with my family at Christmas this last year. It's for Children, but tells the Saint Nicholas story simply but well. |
