![]() Total Heart Rate Training: Customize and Maximize Your Workout Using a Heart Rate Monitor $15.95 This book has several sections where it attempts to instruct the reader to follow a procedure, such as determining aspects of your heart rate function. In two cases, steps seem to be omitted that do not allow the reader to complete the procedure. Several of us looked this over, and we are pretty tech-savvy. Couldn't figure it out. I think it has editing errors. ![]() Garmin Forerunner 305 GPS Receiver With Heart Rate Monitor $299.99 The Garmin Forerunner 305 works well, a little complex to set up multi sports mode, battery life ok for me but perhaps short for full ironman competitions, downloads to a computer are easy and the Garmin Training Center program easy to use with good and flexible presentation. I have no experience with a previous model. I dont think mapping is available on the 305 itself but the Garmin Training center mapping is good. I dont know what "Hrm function" means. ![]() Polar Cardio Sports Bra (Black, Medium) $69.99 I use Polar cardio watches 8 years ago, and now that I found this polar compatible bra it is much easier for me, it is more comfortable to workout with it, because you don't loose the signal when you do certain movements during your workout. I recommend it. ![]() Garmin Forerunner 405 Wireless GPS-Enabled Sports Watch with Heart Rate Monitor $373.32 My Garmin 405 experience has been nothing short of disappointing. It has always operated with glitches but the last several weeks have been nothing short of a useless device. Two weeks ago, I did a 100 mile bike ride and the file was completely lost. After that, none of the rides that I have done were recorded or downloadable. Instead, I would get these completely fragmented files that shows points in the middle of Russia or Iran saying I have done some 125,000 miles. I have done a system reset. I have also deleted out all the files on the Garmin. Lastly, I updated the software with the software update. And I also made sure that I was updating the 405 and not another device. After that, the device still could not function. I am sure that there are others that are happy with their 405 but I can only speak from my experience. And based on that, it is a very unreliable method of recording your workouts. And if it's an important event like a race, it is not worth the extra stress of having the device that may or may not work on race day. |
