With little onscreen to convince me, he's redeemed mostly by his infectuous humanism and his evident good taste in other people's work. Shoot the Piano Player, for instance, is really about nothing at all but a forced sort of whimsy and a fascination with 'le montage'. And, despite its obvious effort at genre-busting, it really makes me realise in retrospect the accomplishment of Jules Dassin's Rififi in bringing a smidgeon of toughness to the fey French gangster picture, in which supposed tough guys sit three across in the front seat of the car. Still, if I were a skinny little 120-pound Frenchman, Shoot the Piano Player would give me hope that I too was so irresistible to women that the gorgeous prostitute in the flat next door might want to sneak into my bed every night and sleep with me for free. As for me, however, he kinda lost my sympathy within the first 20 minutes. ![]() LG BD 370 Network Blu-ray Disc Player $249.95 This is my first LG product I purchased in my life and I probably just got a bad unit, but I am very disappointed about the quality of BD370. I opened the unit, plugged a power cable and HDMI cable. Then I turned on. The TV shows a boot-up screen with "LG" logo and purple bar at the bottom. The unit display shows "PLEASE WAIT" then changed to "UPDATE". The TV screen became black. After few seconds, the unit display "HOME" but nothing on on TV screen. I called the customer service and after I explained this problem, he suggested me to return the unit. He asked me to try one thing, which I unplugged the power cable, press Power button for 30 secs, then put the power cable back and press the power button. Still the same problem. Few minutes later I went to online for customer service and chat with a customer service but I got a same conclusion. I am very disappointed because I was thinking about using this unit during the Thanksgiving holiday, but now I have to wait for 7 to 10 days to get my unit back. ![]() The official scrabble players dictionary $29.95 This book was a great help.
