 In The Mood For Jazz $13.98 Within the last year, our internet radio provider, Live365.com, has been showcasing many artists for airplay on our internet radio stations. So far, the talent they provided has been at best, so-so. But this time, they may have found a diamond in the rough. Lisa Hilton has been providing traditional jazz to her audience for the past few years and released three subsequent albums. With the help of established saxophonist, Eric Marienthal, "In The Mood for Jazz" takes you back to a time when Jazz was king. Unlike Diana Krall, who uses allot of vocals on her CD's, Hilton concentrates on the instrumental side of the genre with 8 of the 12 tracks written by herself. Her style is reminiscent of fellow pianists George Shearing and Oscar Peterson. She even gives life to jazz standards such as Duke Ellington's "In A Sentimental Mood", Antonio Carlos Jobim's "The Girl From Ipanema" and a Gershwin classic, "Our Love is Here to Stay". I enjoyed listening to this CD. The track "Just for Fun" is self explanatory. It's fresh and original, which is hard to do nowadays. Hopefully with this new release, Hilton will get more exposure because its a winner!!  Hotel California $15.99 At first I was actually taken in by her voice but I found her beauty just as engaging. Her hard work shows on her Hotel California CD and meeting such a wonderful person was a real pleasure.  Hercules $4.98 I"d rate this a 7 out of 10 for a clear print,although a few scratches here and there.As I've seen mentioned before this is the best print other than someone taking it directly from the 35mm original.The new dubbed in voices leave a lot of desire for the original.This is the copy I saw on AMC on cable and wondered where they got it.I saw this when it came out in the movies in 1958 and wished I could see the original Italian version.Well until they they redo it,this ain't half bad....love Steve,still the best Herc!!!!!!! |
