I would have liked to have seen more photos or Drawings relating to individual incidents. The more recents incidents where much information is available today, I thought, were somewhat vague, felt they could have been elaborated on. However an excellent reference text. Recommend for an collection. While the fact that Norman Ollestad made it out alive is a remarkable story, the writing in this book was very disappointing. I really could never got a valid picture in my mind of the situations he was describing. It just failed me in that sense. Partly becasue he used too much vocabulary that the average non-surfer/nonskier would never understand. I also didn't care for the constant flipping back and forth between the past and present. It made me feel like this was done because the actual tale would never warrant a full book and they had to pad it. 4 stars it ain't! |
