![]() Burnout Paradise $19.99 Very good game, love the card and speed and everything. But gets boring after you completed everything. ![]() Paradise (Oprah's Book Club) $15.00 This novel, one of Morrison's darkest, of self-righteous men and independent women could easily be transplanted from its all-Black community in Oklahoma to a Muslim village in Pakistan, to a Jewish shetl in the Pale, indeed, to a small or not-so-small town anywhere in the world inhabited by any race, color or creed. It is a universal story of the smugness that can come from power and safety and the perceived threat of women who have thrown off the accepted roles of battered wife, pregnant girlfriend or understanding Missus with a wandering husband. A warning, a shot across the bow, a tale of caution for uppity women, and ... I was about to say a cautionary tale for self-satisfied males but they, of course, will not read it ![]() ADVENTURES IN PARADISE-24 DVD SET-65 EPISODES $109.95 The sellers on Amazon would not ship to my address in Thailand, so I bought this exact same set of 3 on eBay and for $98. Sure, the quality is lacking. In fact there are 3 episodes that were just not watchable. I've watched the first two volumes so far, I like to spread them out, and there are 6 episodes with NO SOUND, so I didn't watch these. I also bought the first 3 years of "Rawhide" and these are very clear. So, why do I give 5 stars? Back in 1960 I was a kid and loved westerns, but every night of the week, day after day of westerns and even a kid gets tired of them. And then those stupid variety shows (Milton Berle) 3 or 4 times a week. Adventures In Paradise was a very refreshing change and this 3 year series was one of a kind. And looking back on things, Adam Troy, played by Gardner McKay was a very good 'role model', although this term was not in use yet. If I remember correctly, our TV set back in those days with those 'rabbit ears' was no more clearer than these copies for sell here. |
