![]() Victoria & Albert $19.95 A good insight into how the rulers rule and also controlled. I was impressed with Queen Vicotia's strength and standards. ![]() The Evening Drag $14.99 For those who remember the post-Portishead years they remember that an aural swamp was created by the onslaught of copycat acts which attempted to recreate the desolate moods and landscapes of portishead, regularly failing and sounding like less subtle, more pop-orientated Sneaker Pimps (which, for those not in the know, already were pop-orientated). Torrez unmistakably reminds me of them. This can be either a good or a bad thing. A good thing if you feel that those bands had something to offer but were too easily discarded on the account of their portishead influence, or a bad thing if you believe all they had to provide were a few fleeting mainstream radio friendly morose moments. ![]() Smother $24.98 This movie has a funny concept that usually can't fail - overbearing parents. However, Smother just isn't that funny. Rather than being funny, Diane Keaton's character often just appears annoying and crazy. Rather than smothering her son, she seems like she should be put in an insane asylum. I don't think I laughed much at all throughout the movie. At the end, I just ended up feeling depressed about the characters complaining that they had wasted their lives. I was also upset when Dax Shepard yelled at the geese. Not funny. If you want really funny comedy about a smothering mother, check out the sitcom Everybody Loves Raymond - The Complete Series. ![]() Tax Revolt: The Rebellion Against an Overbearing, Bloated, Arrogant, and Abusive Government $24.99 This is great book about history of taxes and actions to take to reduce them. Phil's best statement "If you think we should all pay more taxes, why do you itemize?" |
