I don't understand why there are so many raving reviews of this book. I bought it because of all the happy reviews I read and I am so upset with myself. So very disappointed. I bought the book all excited to add it to a college survival basket I'm putting together for a high school graduate. I thought it would be a fun book full of pranks, stories, and useful tips and ideas. Something that a teenager who doesn't read would get a kick out of. But, now that I've had the chance to look through it and read a lot of it today I am not stupid enough to give it to an 18 year old girl!

First of all this book is not funny at all! I am honestly always easy to entertain and it's generally even easier to make me laugh. But the author adds a ton of random, obnoxious, dorky kind of thoughts, or lines that only he must find funny. They read more like they're the author's personal jokes. So many of them don't even make sense in the context they're written. They often don't have anything to do with what's on the page. I get embarrassed for the author as I read the lame remarks.

Also, most parents wouldn't be entirely comfortable giving this book to their newly 18 year old teenager because of the numerous sexual descriptions and suggestions. For instance, for the first Thanksgiving home the author recommends to bring dad a bookmark with a picture of his son banging two girls on it. What in the world??!! I was raised in a very open household but I just find that bizarre. There's many really crude remarks about genitals and what to do with them. It's just unnecessary. I won't give the other examples otherwise Amazon will have to remove this review. There is also quite a bit of the 'F' word thrown in as well as other colorful words. I don't cuss much at all but it doesn't bother or offend me. It would just depend on the person and what they're comfortable promoting. Unfortunately most kids start cussing pretty early these days anyway, but that doesn't mean parents want it to be encouraged.

Basically, I expected to read about crazy shenanigans and foolishly fun memories, a clever variety of advice and jokes. There was nothing smart, well-written, clever, funny, or fresh about this book!!!!! I wish I could send this back but by the time I pay the shipping and handling I'll only get a couple of bucks back. I suppose it could make a useful coaster or kindling for the fire.

And I agree with one of the 1 star reviewers in that there was a lot of bad reviews of this book that seem to have magically disappeared leaving mainly 5 star reviewers who know nothing about writing or real entertainment.

From an adult's perspective: worst movie ever. Almost unbearable to watch.

However, my kid likes it. He doesn't notice the extremely crude animation, or awful music. He likes the dinosaurs and other creepy creatures.

So, not sure what to say. The good thing is that some kids like it. The bad thing is you might have to watch it yourself.
