![]() BlackBerry Bold 9000 Phone, Black (AT&T) $499.99 This phone is a high-quality piece of equipment that is just the right size with just the right amount of gadgetry and pizzaz. I didn't want an iPhone b/c well, frankly, it's becoming a sort of marker for the rampant DB population in my opinion--I just wanted a nice phone that I could check email on, surf the internet on the rare occasion I needed to outside of work or home, and communicate with friends via text, FB, and messenger. This phone looks good, is very easy to navigate, and can take a licking and keep on ticking----I dropped it outside my house and it laid in thick dew for 10 hours---started right up the next day when I found it and let it dry out. The screen is absolutely perfect---good size and excellent resolution. The apps I've downloaded are useful and not difficult to navigate--but in all honesty, I don't anticipate using those very much. Great phone, and with the deals they have for it---great price. Get it now before you have to get the redesigned Bold they just released---smaller screen and not as attractive, IMO. ![]() Motorola Droid A855 Phone (Verizon Wireless) $299.99 I wanted an iphone so bad... but verizon and I have been together through thick and thin and they always have been good and I am a big fan of customer loyalty if you treat me right. Droid has a big screen. Droid can talk to the real internet. Droid can store and play all your music. Droid can talk to your email, even free yahoo email (look online to see how to do it). The battery life is pretty good, and it feels like a real phone. Sadly heavy electronics are reliable electronics, cheap stuff is light. The applications are great and growing. What else could you ask for. The keyboard is a bit redundant in my opinion, but I am so happy with how fast the phone works. If you are undecided, suck it up and pay the money for a good phone. Buy it once, buy it right. You could spend less, but cheap stuff just breaks. WIth this phone you'll be happy, and thats what your money is for right? ![]() BlackBerry Storm2 9550 Phone (Verizon Wireless) $499.99 Once again I was disappointed with Blackberry's touch screen phone. Here is only couple. of the reasons why I was disappointed: 1) You can NOT see what's written on the screen if there is a bright sun. (I tried the phone only in the Boston area) 2) The Internet search is SLOWER than in the older models. 3) Typing on the screen, when the device was vertical, was difficult. (my figures are slim) 4) Typing on the screen, when the device was horizontal, was NOT easy. I can go on and on, but these are enough reasons why I gave this model 1 star.... I understood why last year RIM had to quickly introduce an inferior touch screen phone (the Storm). RIM needed to quickly respond to the release of the IPHONE, and did not have the time to design a device that is in par with their reputation. However, since the introduction of the first touch screen, Rim had enough time to improve their product... and they did NOT managed to do it. Rim should aim at perfection or else people will switch to AT&T to get the IPHONE. I end up getting the Tour, which is very good. However, it is NOT a touch screen. ![]() BlackBerry Bold 9700 Phone (T-Mobile) $449.99 The Blackberry Bold 9700 is a great new Blackberry with speed that I have yet to see on any model out there. Before this model my favorite was the Blackberry 8900 which lacked 3g capabilities and thus was a little tedious at times. The 9700 truly has everything that you will ever want out of a Blackberry: * 480x360 High Resolution Screen * Touch Sensitive Track PAD Which is FANTASTIC (the track ball on previous models was always a problem) * A new upgraded CPU which makes this device SCREAM with speed. * 3G and EDGE Cellular Service * Wi-Fi (Which can be used for UMA on T-MOBILE - allowing you to use your internet connection to make/receive calls and email, etc). * 3.2 MP Camera with Auto Focus, Image Stabilization and a LED Flash. * A new operating system - Version 5.0.x to be specific. * Includes a 2gb Micro SD Card for storage of Music, Images, Videos, and Applications. * Super clear speaker both in the handset and as a speakerphone. Loud and Clear... (Note, the previous bold had stereo speakers, this one does not) * Micro USB Charging (Industry standard - previous bold had mini-usb) * Elegant design with leather embossed battery cover If you are looking to find a negative here then you will not...I have used these devices ever since the first one was introduced in the mid/late nineties and I can say will full confidence that it is the BEST BLACKBERRY I have ever used. All of that being said...my only gripe is with T-Mobiles lack of 3G coverage, at the moment. I sincerely hope that with a superb device like this that they will invest in their network and improve it quickly.... Please ask me any and all questions via the comments system and I will answer them as best as I can. PS: Quick Note: I have a leather holster for my 8900 - the 9700 fits in it perfectly. |
