SPECIFICATIONS and DESCRIPTION:
This product is a five pound bag of vitreous glass tiles or chips, 1/8th inch thick and 3/8 of an inch square; all have one smooth side and one textured side to aid in gluing/adhesion. They arrived in perfect shape with only a couple of chips broken and included a wide variety of colors-- approximately 30. The majority are solid colors and completely opaque, but some are more exotic- streaked in metallics and are more clear, allowing more light to pass through. They can be broken into smaller bits with tile nippers, but are amazingly stout. It is wise to cut the tiles inside a plastic bag or container - pieces do tend to fly and eye protection is a MUST.

SUGGESTIONS FOR PURCHASERS:
I recommend this product to anyone wanting to delve into mosaic, but suggest that it may be wise to get Two bags of chips to increase the number of individual colors. Five pounds is significant, but can be used quickly with a sizable project. If there was any "down side" to the bag, it had a couple of colors that were more numerous than the rest and some colors had only a few tiles, but even this wasn't much of a drawback in my opinion. Once again, It is wise to cut the tiles inside a plastic bag or container - pieces do tend to fly and eye protection is a MUST. I utilize a box framework covered in clear plastic - this effectively captures the mess and considerably reduces hazard while allowing you to see what you're doing.
