What I like about this, is there are so many different ways you can play the game. You can either grab a sword and go fight demons or dragons, have one on one duels with other characters or go out and tame yourself a dragon for a pet. Or if you would rather take a boat out for a little fishing, go out and mine for metal to build your own weapons and armor or even just go out and explore the many lands just to see whats out there. ![]() Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures $9.99 Okay, I have been playing AoC off and on since just a few months after release, and I have to say that I was shocked when I came on Amazon and saw how low the rating for this game is. Then I read some reviews and realized that most of them are from very early in the games life. You see, being that it is an MMO, content is updated and debugged live. I can honestly say that being a player for a while now, that the game has grown in leaps and bounds. All of the bugs and lack of content that was experienced toward release has all been changed. Reviews on products like these should have a shelf life. The game is was pretty good before, but it is AMAZING now! I hope to see more people back me on this, because it would really be a shame to see people shy away from giving this game a chance because it didnt get a fair review. Hope to see ya in Hyborea : ) ![]() MMO Evolution $22.95 MMO Evolution is a good entry level primer to the growing resistance to big box mainline MMO games in the North American market space. It is written in a style very blog like, making it a fast and easy read. At times it is highly editorial, but underneath that there is a strong understanding of a number of critical aspects of the MMO games industry. You do have to read a bit between the lines to get the full gist of what is being said in this book, and for some it may come as a bit too opinionated. Particularly interesting are the discussions on thematic and content stagnation and the under laying investment risk vs. reward/quick cash mentality that is so heavily present the risk adverse/high stakes MMO gaming industry. I recommend this book for people who are looking for a place to start understanding the growing 'in crowd' of dissatisfied gamers, developers, and visionaries in the MMOG field. This book will give you a good solid understanding of what they are thinking, feeling, and the changes they want to make. I recommend World of Warcraft fanatics and Big Box MMOG Gamers avoid, unless you want to write bad reviews on Amazon in your spare time. You'll be frustrated and angry that the titles you hold dear to your hearts are being used as examples of stagnation and avoidance of change. |
