![]() Applying the Rasch Model: Fundamental Measurement in the Human Sciences, Second Edition $44.95 This book is a great way to get started with Rasch analysis. Most chapters have a tutorial that walks you through step by step an example analysis using provided datasets, with versions of the software (Winsteps/Facets) that come on a CD with the book. After working through the basic tutorial, I felt that I was left hanging (wondering what next?). What would be very helpful would be a thorough coverage of how to interpret output (what columns mean etc, with start to finish detailed examples; including reporting of results). In any event, this is great! ![]() Measurements & Conversions (Running Press Pocket Guides) $5.95 This little book is a perfect book for those of us that still operate under a non-metric based measurement system. It is small (about the size of my hand) so it can easily fit in your toolbox or desk drawer. It has countless conversions in it that one may find useful (or useless in some cases). I wish I did more work with different types of measuring systems so I could use this little book some more, but it has provided me with some quick conversions throughout the duration of time I have owned it. This book contains metric to english conversions and english to english conversions. It also contains every possible 12-month calendar (there are 14 total). This book is definately worth a couple bucks; but, probably not much more. I doubt I'll ever truly use this because I don't often need to convert kilograms to pounds to stones or furlongs to chains to milli-inches. However, I do look forward to the next time I go on a sailboat or boating excursion so that I can figure out how many nautical miles I will travel. ![]() Radiation Detection and Measurement $69.98 A great book but with many, many, and not all corrected in the extensive, yet not definitive, errata list. Make sure you contact the editor for it. I mean, a table of content with page references that don't match, whole chunk of text missing at the very beginning of chapter 14, and then missing words (easy to spot, they left a blank! And I have not read it from cover to cover yet as this turned me off, so who knows what else got missed. And if you are a student, wait until you try to use a formula that has not been printed correctly. Great author, great text, lousy editing and printing. Maybe wait for the fourth edition? ![]() Investment Performance Measurement: Evaluating and Presenting Results (CFA Institute Investment Perspectives) $95.00 Praise for Investment Performance Measurement "This volume contains the insights of more than fifty prominent authorities on performance measurement.
