![]() The Maya, Seventh Edition (Ancient Peoples and Places) $24.95 One cannot understand much of what is occurs in study and research in archeaology w/o understanding the cultural milieu of the Mayans. This book gives us that milieu in a way that opens sealed doors and allows us to experience some of their day to day rituals and ways. The less said the better, read this book and savor its essence. You will discover!!!! ![]() Autodesk Maya Complete 2008, 1 user $2,655.33 I love this software, but DON'T BUY A USED COPY! Autodesk only transfers the license under very restricted circumstances. I contacted them about a used copy I bought. Their response is below. Autodesk sells its software under a "Non exclusive, non transferable license..." agreement. However, there are three scenarios in which a Transfer of License is possible. They are as follows: Legal changes of company ownership and structure, including mergers, consolidations, and acquisitions that represent a sale of substantially all assets of a business concern. Transfers of products within companies and Government agencies. Donations to charity (for use by the charitable organization, not for resale). I bought a used copy of Adobe's Creative Suite. Adobe makes you jump through hoops but they will transfer the license. Autodesk does not want to deal with used copies of their very expensive software. ![]() Advanced Maya Texturing and Lighting $59.99 The book i ordered came within just a few days of purchase. It was in excellent condition (as was described) and i couldn't find a better price anywhere. Thanks! ![]() Maya Visual Effects: The Innovator's Guide $39.99 While containing some interesting ideas, I strongly wished it had been more in-depth and advanced. Many of the techniques used are rather simple and obvious. Unless this is one of the first Maya books you read, you'll probably know at least half of the contents. There is some good material here: Keller shows the readers how to use things in some unobvious ways and challenges them to look for solutions in unexpected (and fast) ways. If you're a beginner, some of these techniques may help ingrain things you've learned, but haven't had much cause to use, making you a better vfx person. I'd recommend this to self-learners who are looking to extend their knowledge, but aren't ready for more technical material. If you're already comfortable with visual effects, this book probably isn't for you. |
