Yes, I was waiting for another set of four DVDs the make my October a bit brighter.

But the focus has shifted. I'd think they'd want to make the collections as thorough as possible, or the remaining toons may not be marketable as "for kids"....some of the stronger race cartoons remain, as do some not seen since initial release.And some of the early ones involve jokes about prohibition. The pre- Hayes cartoons deal with other matters. The question is---what will they do?


By the book that was put out some time ago, there was a count of some 1000 short subjects. I've seen a good number of them. Some like "Vox Pop" are awful....people put out bootlegged collections of the shorts.

But the cartoons listed with this collection seem to be more sanitized and safe for the younger minds to settle on, deal with safes falling from the sky, explosives and idiots.

This is a good collection, but it is only for the avid Looney Tunes and vintage cartoon collector, like me. Some of these shorts may not be interesting to some people, including children. Most of these cartoons are World War 2 propaganda, which were shown at movie theaters at the time, encouraging people to buy victory bonds for defense. There is also some violence.
I recommend the Spotlight Collection Vol.6 for those who want more of the cartoons that were shown on television. If you are not a collector of vintage cartoons of an era, than this collection is not for you.

I love these DVD's and plan to buy the others in the collection. They take me back to Saturday mornings as a kid, and I love sharing them with my nieces. Highly recommend these to any Looney Tune fan!
