 Long Awaited Pleasure $55.00 Lois Weaver and Peggy Shaw, co-founders of the inventive lesbian comedy/musical troupe Split Breaches, are the saving graces in this low-budget production that follows two women who meet and fall in love. Rory, a gangly thirtyish New York dentist, moves to a small Southern city after breaking up with her longtime lover. It is there that she meets Sue, a willowy blonde undertaker anxious for a partner. The simple story deals primarily with their initial, tentative talks and dates, which lead up to the dramatic moment of their first kiss and the beginning stages of a love affair. A fine, honest depiction of the awkward moments and exhilarating highs of a nascent lesbian relationship.  The Long-Awaited Stork $35.00 I found this book to be hugely helpful. I read it a few years after becoming an adoptive mom, when I found myself still depressed, and still grieving all of the losses I experienced in those dismal infertility years. I highly recommend it to anyone who has moved on from fertility treatments -- whether by becoming pregnant, or becoming a parent through adoption. I read it cover to cover, and it helped me process many things, and to feel much less alone. |
