![]() Logitech Performance Mouse MX $99.99 I've owned countless mice over the years; everything from your basic corded ball mouse, so portable Bluetooth mice, to top of the line cordless optical mice. This particular product obviously falls into the latter category. Of these mice, most are Logitech simply because I prefer their features, comfort, and usability over competing products from Microsoft and other vendors. The current MX mouse is what of the most fully loaded mouse I've ever used. It has just about every feature and functionality that you'd want from a desktop mouse. Whether you are spending your day surfing the web, typing up e-mails, or playing games, this mouse has you covered. Starting with normal desktop usage, you have several buttons that work as shortcuts to make life easier. There is a back/forward button, zoom (more on that later), Windows Aero Task switcher, speed sensitivity, and 2-mode scroll wheel. The only feature I've found to be annoying is the zoom button, which is located directly below the back/forward buttons. It took some getting used to as I found I kept zooming instead of going back or forward in my browser. You can also just turn it off. I have another nearly identical Logitech mouse that doesn't have this button. I wish they'd leave that button off or move it further away. The other feature worth mentioning is the 2-mode scroll wheel. With the simply push of a button you can leave it in the normal clicking mode we are used to, or have that "click" function disabled so the wheel spins freely. Just give it a push and it'll keep spinning until it eventually slows down on its own or you stop it yourself. This is very handy for scrolling through long webpages or documents. When it comes to gaming, you're covered as well. With another simple push of a button, you can adjust the sensitivity (or DPI) of the optical sensor. This is ideal for scrolling across large maps or sniping from a hidden roof top in your favorite FPS. Users who need precise mouse movement in apps such as Photoshop might also find this useful. The other much advertised feature is the new laser that can track on just about anything, including glass. Bottom line, it works. The last feature I feel worth mentioning is the micro-USB port in the front of the mouse. I'm not sure why somebody didn't think of this sooner. This is much better than using a dock, cradle, or even replacing battery. When your mouse is dying, just plug in the cable and you can use it as a "normal" corded mouse. Once charged, disconnect, and off you go. Very nice. Pros: * Lots of customizable buttons * Very smooth performance * Solid feel and construction * Adjustable DPI * Best ergonomic mouse out there * Micro USB recharge port in front of mouse. * Laser works just about anywhere Cons: * Zoom button too close to other buttons. * Bit pricey Overall I consider this mouse highly recommended. While it is somewhat pricey, you do get a lot of mouse for your money. It's not for everybody. But if you want the best, this is the one to get. ![]() Logitech Harmony 900 Remote Control (Black) $399.99 I have owned harmony remotes for probably ten years now, and can say that the hardware is getting better and better. In fact, this is the first Harmony remote where I did not reminisce fondly and yearn for my TiVO peanut remote. It feels the same way my iphone feels in hand, the touch screen is excellent (even though i prefers buttons), and speaking of buttons, they are solid and are very responsive. My only nit with regards to the design/hardware is the battery compartment. It seems overly complicated, and loose --it's the grey cover at the bottom of the remote. Oddly, the remote cover seems to be an on-going problem with Harmony. On my 890, i could never get the remote cover off, on my 680, it would break off. Logitech, one word "SCREWS", like on kids toys. Now, my major complaint. The software hasn't seem to have really improved in ten years... It is the best solution out there, but is buggy. First off, the other reviewers are correct -- probably will not work with your mac, there seem to be ongoing driver issues. The easy way out is to run windows in a virtual machine or boot camp, and be done with it. The SAME problem when I got my 890. Poor mac support on product launch. Logitech, it's OK to launch with mac support later! Just say so. Finally, old harmony users... you will have to reprogram your account(s) from scratch. "your old account is not compatible" with the 900. Macros and custom programming be-gone. Great product, good software, poor support. BUT, Harmony makes the best remotes out there --better than the all the low AND high end custom remotes, period. ![]() Logitech Gaming Mouse G500 (Black/Silver) $69.99 Logitech is one of those brands where you know you're getting a good product regardless of what you buy. This mouse continues and builds on that trend. It's easily the best mouse I've ever used, and a lot cheaper than most of the mice I've used too!! Plug it in and it works immediately, on a PC or a Mac. Many buttons that are programmable, and onboard memory so you can use the same settings on every computer rather than having to set them manually every time you plug the mouse into a different computer. If you're a gamer, you won't find a better gaming mouse. Heck, even if you're just a casual PC user I'd recommend the mouse because of the fairly low price, and the great quality/comfort of the mouse. My favorite feature is how you can press a button to change the scroll when to either "clicky" mode or "smooth" mode. An excellent mouse. Do yourself a favor and invest, you won't be disappointed. ![]() Logitech Webcam Pro 9000 - Black [Amazon Frustration-Free Packaging] $99.99 ...a nice carrying bag. I use this camera with my laptop, so it would have been nice if it came with one of those bags that I could put this into, something that would keep the lens from getting scratched when I put it in one of the laptop bag pockets. |
