 Avenir Coil Combo Cable Locks (10mm / 6 feet) $10.99 I really like this cable lock. I wouldn't use it in New York City, but for the suburban bike paths I use it's totally adequate. The mounting bracket is very well thought out, and will fit a range of tube sizes by adding/removing inserts. The lock mechanism is very smooth and easy to turn. Setting your combination is easy. The 6 foot length is just right. The self-coiling cable is very convenient to use. Not too heavy. No negatives.  Master Lock 178D Set-Your-Own Combination Padlock, Die-Cast, Black $13.64 It's fair enough to use, no problems, just minor technicalities. The key given to change the combination is very weak, it's very easy (due to inexperience) to insert it wrong and bend the key out of place. A 2nd replacement key and/or a stronger key would be one way this product could be better. The combination precision is a bit loose, rather than having latches told hold numbers in place. But overall, the lock does it's job - Besides, if someone really wanted to get by your gate or something, they would probably just climb over!  Master Lock 1530DCM X-treme Combination Lock, Colors May Vary $6.60 I use this animal on a temporary locker in the gym. I never know which one I am going to use. Luckily most the other locks are black or silver. I am not as worried that some one will break in, as I am about forgetting which locker I am using. I guess I also grew-up thinking that if it did not say "Master" that is was some how not as good.  Master Lock 4684T TSA-Accepted Lock in Neon Green, Orange, Pink, or Purple, 2-Pack $17.92 Traveled from NYC to Greece and upon arrival locks had been cut off luggage. Unknown what airport clipped the locks, but no guarantee airport personnel treat TSA locks any differently from regular. Big waste of money for me. |
