Unlike the original toaster NES console, the top loader usually loads the first time without the famous blinking screen. The only drawback is the rf out video only, unless you can get your hands on the ultra rare NES-101 with AV output. It does indeed exist, but no one knows for sure how many are out there. Production on the AV NES-101 was stopped very early in 1994 due to low sales, and there may only be a few lone prototypes of this rare NES. The top loader with av out, in my opinion, is the holy grail of Nintendo Entertainment Systems. The Japanese top loader version, the AV Famicom, is much like our U.S. top loader, with AV out only. It is an awesome compromise, if you can find one with the 72 to 60 pin adapter, DC power adapter, and power down transformer. The Av Famicom was manufactured by Nintendo until 2003 and can be found on numerous auction sites in excellent condition. The rf out only U.S. top loader was produced until 1993. ![]() KR Tools 12609 Autoloader 6-in-1 Auto Loading Classic and Precision Screwdriver Set, $59.98 This tool is incredibly useful. However, my main criticism is that it does not have any sort of lock to keep the bit in place. I've had the bit that is on the tip of the device and being used fall out. The storage of the other bits is fine, but the bit you are using is not particularly secure. |
