![]() Joy of Chanukah $13.99 The festival of Chanukah is a celebration that reminds the Jewish people of the victory of the Macabees over the oppressive rulers of that time in history. It was then that the altar in the temple was rededicated with the lighting of the menorah. The miracle, that a tiny bit of oil could burn for eight days, has become the focal point of this Jewish Holiday. A spirit of exaltation is evident through the music and the people's enjoyment of this event. The sounds of musical instruments and voices all blend together in our collection of Chanukah songs which will surely allow you to revel in this most meaningful celebration. So, join with is as The Pacific "Pops" Orchestra and The New Horizon Singers bring to you the ever-joyful music of Chanukah. ![]() Toy Story Buzz Lightyear Self-Stick Decorating Kit $20.99 While these decals seem like a great idea when you don't want anything permanent, and they are very cute, kids love them, don't expect them to actually stay on the wall. I've had them for less than a week and most of them have already fallen off the wall. In fact, they started bubbling and peeling off within hours of me putting them up. (And I made sure I read the instructions several times, especially after they started peeling off within a few hours of putting them up. I wanted to make sure I wasn't doing anything wrong and I didn't.) In less than a week since I've put them up, they're pretty much trash because they've fallen off so many times and I've had to "reposition" them so many times it's not even sticky anymore. Unless you want to throw your money away in about a week, you're probably better off finding another solution to decorating a room. I guess you could always use clear tape to tape these decals up, but I wouldn't imagine that'd look so great, and kind of defeats the purpose of "self-stick" decorations. I give it zero stars for performance, but I'll be generous in giving 2 stars for how cute they are and my kids were SO excited to have Buzz Lightyear on their walls. Now they just keep telling me that Buzz is falling off. ![]() Doctor Who: Ghost Light (Story 157) $19.98 Ghost Light is a brilliantly complex and unusual story that benefits greatly from repeated viewings. If you prefer to have a story spoon-fed to you, then it's probably not going to be your cup of tea. On the other hand, if you like a story that makes you think then Ghost Light is for you. Ghost Light begins the so-called "Ace Trilogy" that consisted of the final three episodes of the original program. For the first time in Doctor Who the companion really becomes central to the storyline, mirroring the way the show would be approached when the new series began in 2005. Sylvester McCoy gives his best performance as the seventh incarnation of the Doctor and Sophie Aldred steps up her game, too, as another layer is added to Ace. The supporting cast is absolutely top notch, as well. In an era known for its often poor production Ghost Light looks pristine. The atmosphere is suitably dark and gloomy, though the title can be misleading if you take it at face value. Nothing in this story should be taken at face value, however, as layer after layer of mystery slowly unfolds. Don't be surprised if you're a little puzzled on your first viewing, particularly if you don't give it your full attention. In the end, it all pays off in a tale that's become my favorite Doctor Who entry of the '80s. ![]() Disney Princess Stories Night Light (Assorted Design) $2.99 I bought this for my daughter because we couldn't get her to sleep in her own room. It worked. The light is pretty bright but she doesn't mind and I just turn it off when I head to bed. The plastic princess cover has not broke yet even with my son playing with it. I don't know if it could take alot of play though. I am satisfied though. |
