The IOGEAR worked perfectly for a month until the number 2 mouse port died. Now the fun begins trying to get it replaced. ![]() IOGear 4-Port MiniView USB KVM Switch with Audio and Cables GCS634U $105.03 First the good news ... this unit works great. Linux, Windows, desktop, laptop, it's all good. I am liking the audio switch feature a lot. All the necessary cables are included. My previous KVM had difficulty with the DDC signals on the video connector (that's how the computer determines the characteristics of your monitor), but this unit works great. I've yet to see a single glitch in operation. I've had mixed luck with line-powered KVMs (no external power supply) as this one is, but I haven't run into any issues on this. I feel like the quality of the video is a little less sharp than my previous A-Ten KVM, but that unit was significantly more expensive. My main beef is with the physical controls. There is no mechanical switch. It's hard to tell from the front panel indicators (a 2 by 2 grid of lights) which system is active. I'm also not crazy about the keyboard switch combination (SCROLL LOCK / SCROLL LOCK / digit / ENTER). It requires a lot of jumping around the keyboard. These little annoyances very annoying. On the other hand, the unit works very reliably and it's very affordable, which go a long way to balancing them out. |
