![]() The Harmony Guides: Knit & Purl: 250 Stitches to Knit $22.95 I got this book over a year ago and have found that it has a good selection of knit and purl stitches, but not enough variety for me to consider it a great reference book. I have reached for it a handful of times for ideas during the past year. I recently got 101 stitches to knit by the same publisher and found that selection more interesting because it has stitches from all their books (cable stitches, lace, etc.) and it is made of portable cards. ![]() Fitted Knits: 25 Projects for the Fashionable Knitter $22.99 While the designs are pretty and interesting to knit, it would be wise to check for published errata on the author's blog site, since almost every pattern in the book has one or more errors in it - and it is very inconvenient to discover this partway through the garment. Once knitted correctly the results are good, but it would have been nice if the author had insisted on good editing and review before publishing. ![]() Country Weekend Knits: 25 Classic Patterns for Timeless Knitwear $24.95 While the sweaters in this book are undoubtedly lovely, I cannot help but be severely annoyed. I had bought Weston's 'Traditional Sweater' book not long ago and found, to my great disappointment, that most of the sweaters in the Country Weekend Knits are taken from the other book (or vice versa). So now I have two books, different titles, different format, and the same sweaters. ![]() Knit Two $15.00 A dear friend had loaned me The Friday Night Knitting Club several months ago and at its conclusion, I just wanted to throw the book against the wall! While my friend pretty much did not like the book, she went out, and even bought the hardcover edition of Knit Two. Like the dear she is, she passed it along to me, saying this one was much better than the first loan. While it is better... It is ever so boring, ever so drawn out, ever ridiculous... There are a few passages that are good writing but for the most part, I consider myself a true friend as I tried to get something out of this book. My friend and I are both knitters...hence the sharing. Kate Jacobs has commented that there was a demand for a sequel.... Look at the reviews...who demanded? |
