My students and I have been using the book "Kidnapped" as one of our literature readings. The students enjoyed the book and really showed great interested in the movie. It was great for me as a teacher to show the students different versions of this story. We charted the similiarities and differences. The intesrest level of the students made it easy for me to do my job. Great movie.

This was a thrilling book with a fast moving plot, but is a bit of cheat to be left hanging at the end. I didn't know this when I bought the first book, so now I have to spend more money and wait for the next two books to arrive to find out what happens.... Frustrating! So here's a tip (or a warning), if you buy book one, be sure to get all three at the same time or you'll be left hanging like I was.

Have you ever suffered hardships? Or been so hot and thirsty you thought you would die? That is what happened to David Balfour. David Balfour is the main character of Kidnapped by Robert Louis Stevenson. David is a lowland man of about 18 years old. He is very nice, kind, and caring. He makes friends easily because of his great characteristics. He has a few friends, but his best is John Campbell.John is a priest in Essendean. Also, David will find out there is someone he does not know is in his family. David has to go on a journey to become wealthy, but it is unexpectedly dangerous. Will he make it there alive when he is only 18?
I think this is a wonderful book full of action. I recommend this book to anyone that likes fighting, adventures, or people that enjoy learning historical culture and language. The author, Robert L. Stevenson, chose to write this book of friendships and struggles from David's point of view. He used convincing character development, significant conflicts, realistic dialogue, and fast pace speed throughout Kidnapped. Overall, I found this to be one of the best books I have read.
