 Cycle Beads for Ovulation Prediction $13.95 Cycle beads were in perfect condition. Great idea, you just have to remember to move it each day. When you have to move ahead several days, it's not the easiest to move, but, it's not that difficult either.  DivaCup Model 2 Post-Childbirth $39.59 Pros: safer than traditional tampons (no chemicals or bleach messing with internal pH), saves money in the long-run, DOES NOT LEAK (even overnight), minimizes odor that usually coincides with menstruation, minimizes cramping Cons: does not feel like a tampon (but starts to feel "normal" after one or two uses), correct insertion requires practice, is awkward to clean in public restrooms. Also, there are four tiny holes directly under the top rim that are difficult to clean; I usually use a safety pin. Comments: After having two children my menstrual flow has been much more heavy than it was prior to childbirth. Although I tried several different brands and sizes of tampons prior to childbirth, I never found a tampon that did not leak, requiring me to wear a maxi pad as back-up. The Diva Cup never leaks for me, and I have experienced much less cramping and odor since I have used it. Emptying and cleaning the Cup is also much less messy than I anticipated. I never have to spend money on menstrual products anymore, and I don't have to carry tampons or pads along with me on vacations or on trips to the bathroom! Since I was used to wearing tampons, the Diva Cup was uncomfortable at first but after I trimmed the stem and practiced inserting it correctly (instructions are included in the packaging), I was not even aware that I was wearing it. I highly recommend this product!  Instead 12 Hour Feminine Protection Cup $6.75 I really like the product because you don't need to worry about it for 12 hours. It definitely works better than tampons. It is great for active life styles. This product is great if you don't mind the fact that it is disposable, and costs a little more than tampons. I do agree with the rest of the reviewers about making sure to read the instructions first, it is a must. The only problem that I had with this product was that removal was somewhat difficult a few times. Definitely change them a few times at home before trying to do it in a public restroom, just until you get the hang of it. And yes, washing your hands before and after changing them out is also a must. As far as them being hard/messy to dispose of . . . I dump them out into the toilet before wrapping them in tissue or the wrapper of the new one, which makes it no worse than a regular tampon/pad.  Diva Cup Model 1 Pre-Childbirth $39.59 I was very skeptical about trying the DivaCup. I had read about it in Glamour magazine, and although many women seemed to love it, it seemed like a terrible concept! I read over some of the reviews on Amazon and figured I'd give it a shot. If I liked it, I'd save hundreds of dollars and the environment! I have been using tampons for over 8 years now, and I was always scared of TSS, even though it is not as common now. With the diva cup, I do not need to be worried about toxic shock. The cup is small and comfortable. It took me a few tries, but I finally figured out which way to fold it that suited me best (pushing the rim down toward the center inside of the cup). Once inside, the cup is a little uncomfortable, but just until it settles. I can go all day at work while wearing the cup! I did not experience any leakage, until I the last day of my period...the cup caught all of the thin blood, but somehow passed the thicker discharge. This was not a huge problem, as I just used the thinnest panty liner for only a few hours. I was also a little weary about removal. A few women mentioned that they felt as if their insides were being ripped out while removing, but I experienced no such thing. It is a little difficult to remove; it is not a quick process like removing a tampon (takes me about 20-30 seconds to remove the cup). It involved using your kegel muscles and pushing the cup down while pulling on the "stem". Once the suction releases, it can easily be removed. Overall, I am very pleased with the DivaCup! I would recommend this product to anyone who no longer wants to spend 10 dollars for a box of tampons every time they have their period. I am so glad I never have to hunt for a quarter to find a tampon in public bathrooms again! The DivaCup is great! |
