 Hot Babes Doing Stuff Naked $14.99 One of my favorite shows from Playboy TV. The structure of the show has improved from the first few episodes, but they are all good fun. Now that it is on DVD I can clear out my Tivo a bit. I am looking forward to them coming out with an other season and Vol 2. ( and 3 and 4 and 5)  Hot Babes $35.00 This is one of those quintessential, edgy fashion books that are ever so rare and wonderful to find. By this, I mean that it's obvious perusing through Hot Babes that the photographer Michael Troop is well schooled in the finer points of fashion and glamour photography. A quick look at his resume and educational background will attest to this. But despite his grounding in commercial work as a professional photographer, Michael has used this opportunity to break free of those constraints and truly explore the boundaries of his personal taste and erotic fantasies. Hot Babes is a mixture of fine art nudes, glamour nudes, and even fashion-flavored nudes. But what is most unexpected is the scintillating erotic imagery that peppers this collection. Open leg shots, light masturbation, and even some toy play make this one hot collection of top-shelf babes. But the erotic elements do not overpower, they serve only to accentuate the beautiful, sensual atmosphere of this amazing first book from an obvious talent.  Red Hot + Bothered/Indie Rock Guide To Dating $15.98 All by itself, one track makes this comp a must-own: "Sensational Gravity Boy", recorded by Freedom Cruise, which was basically a Robert Pollard song recorded by an early-90s style Guided by Voices lineup (Pollard/Sprout/Greer) with guest vocals by Kim and Kelley Deal of The Breeders. Is this among the truly great GBV songs not included on Bee Thousand or Alien Lanes? Yes. For sure. Yeah, wisenheimer, the song is available elsewhere. But be "with it" and own it the way it first appeared and was lost to the scatter and flood of 90s independent rock. |
